OUR COMMITMENT .
. . .
Our Knights of Columbus slogan –
In Service to One, In Service to All clearly establishes our
organization as the strong right arm of the church. With over 1.6
million members, the Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest
Catholic family fraternal service organization. Council
11028’s over 250 members joined Knights throughout the world in
giving more than $150 million and 60 million hours of volunteer
service to a broad range of church, community and youth programs,
activities and charities annually.
Our Order is unequivocally
loyal to the Holy Father, the Vicar of Christ on Earth. We firmly support our
church’s program of evangelization, Catholic education, the right to life, civic
involvement and aid to those in need. We are firmly committed to the protection
of human life from conception to natural death and to the preservation and
defense of the family. It was on the bedrock of these principles that the Order
was founded over a century ago and remains true to them today.
As a Knight, or a prospective Knight, it is
important that you fully understand: What it means to be a Knight.
The principles of our Order and the Degrees
that represent those principles.
Why you should offer your time and talent to
our good works.
To achieve this end, our
council has put into place organizational accountabilities and procedures
essential to shepherd you on your journey to active and more informed
Knighthood. We are committed to provide you with the best possible
guidance in the use of the time you can make available and your talents.
We look for a similar commitment from you to do your part in this undertaking.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES BACK TO SCHOOL DRIVE -
Good Afternoon!
Beginning today, and continuing until Monday, August 25, 2008 we will be inviting donors and volunteers to donate items to Catholic Charities - Emergency Services Back to School Drive.
Underprivileged children in the Pee Dee region will soon go to Catholic Charities Emergency Services hoping to find back to school supplies many of us will soon be purchasing for our children.
We will be collecting socks, underwear, backpacks and school supplies at the Catholic Charities Emergency Assistance Center to help make sure these young people go back to school with the things they need. These items are needed:
Backpacks Socks Underwear
Erasers 8 - packs of thick markers Filler Paper
Notebooks Pens Pencils
Crayons
Please consider bringing in a few items. Thank you so much for your generous support!
The Staff of Catholic Charities - Pee Dee - Trisha Walker at tmoody-walker@catholic-doc.org CATHOLIC CHARITIES NEEDS YOUR HELP!!! - Catholic Charities invites you to engage your head, heart, and hands to serve those in need.
Whether you are a good organizer, a team player, or have strong muscles, the gifts you volunteer are Catholic Charities' richest resources. Help the underprivileged at noon on August 20th, by helping to unload food for the Catholic Charities Community Food Pantry. Many hands make light work!!!
Just call our Assistance Center (843.488.2112) and let us know if we can count on you.
Thank you in advance for helping to make a difference in the lives of those in need.

BreadRun
Day-old bread is picked up at 10:30AM at the PIG at
Willbrook and delivered through the rear door to Friendship Place at St.
Cyprian’s in Georgetown. At the beginning of each month the “Leaders” allocate
the assigned days in the month to a member of his team. If the assignee can’t
make their appointed day he should advise the leader so a replacement can be
named.

SERIOUS ILLNESS AND BEREAVEMENT
Please contact Jack Shriver (237-2678)
if you are aware of a Brother Knight who is ill or who has passed on.
Your promptness in doing so will assist Jack immeasurably in providing
timely wishes for better health or, if need be, consolation to the
affected families. It will also help in making other knights aware so
they can respond as appropriate. |
